My older brother, André, and I both attended the Vale Academy (1949-50 to 1954). He is a retired teacher in Kelso. I am a retired int'l civil servant in S. Carolina. Our dad taught modern languages at VOLA from 1934 to 1947.

I was a pupil back in 1960's I attended the old academy until my family migrated to Australia.I have fond memories of the Acadamy and my teachers.Mrs Barr was so lovely and helped me through difficult times.I can remember a few names Lilias Thompson,Barbara Clancey Martin Stubberfiled,Joseph Carson.I have one school photo and was so sad to leave the school just before attending The New Academy.

I left the "Academy" in 1975, completed a degree in physics at Strathclyde in 1979, and my phd from the university of Wales in 1983. I am now a professor in space science at the university of Alberta in Western Canada. Thankyou to Mr. Glen who sparked my interest in physics, and the young woman who taught me Mathematics. She was the daughter of Mr. Riddle, the chemistry teacher at that time. Good luck to VOLA in all the years to come. Robert Rankin.

Went to VOLA from 1976 to 1978. Moved to the area from Dublin and was made very welcome at the school. Currently working for Philips Electronics in Singapore

Hi there. I attended VOLA from about 1974 -1979. I went to Queens College ( now Glasgow Caledonian University ) and graduated as a physiotherapist. I emigrated to Canada in 1987. My family is still in the Vale and I come home regularly. Best teacher and scariest was Latin teacher 'German Geordie' ( was it Mr Simpson?) Loved Mr Campbell and Mr Love. So many good teachers. Great school.

Even realize how much you and your wife did for me!! Thanks miss Ferguson you were soooo scary but you helped me get a B in my o grade English and I thought I was thick!! I travel all over the world now last year I was in Mumbai, India and this year I am living in Borneo, Indonesia.... Miss the Vale and it's people. VOLA keep growing....

I was there 73/77.So many good times,frinds and teachers.I workd on the temporary huts beore the new school was built,installing the gas lines to the science labs.So proud to do even that little to the school.Hope some remember me with some fondness
