West Dunbartonshire Council Welcome to Highdykes Primary School

Welcome to our school

Highdykes Primary School

Highdykes Primary School is situated in Bonhill, Alexandria. The School serves the Braehead, Pappert and Beechwood areas of Bonhill. The school opened in 1978 and is built on land previously part of Highdykes farm.

From the playground a glimpse of Loch Lomond

and Ben Lomond can be seen. The River Leven can also be seen in the distance winding its way through Alexandria.

The current roll of the school is approximately 164 children aged 5-11 and staffing is in line with the Local Education Authority guidelines. Highdykes is a feeder primary for the Vale of Leven Academy.

The school has 5 learning assistants. The learning assistants work as a close team with classroom teachers with very good results. We also have very supportive clerical staff. The janitor, Mr Allan Clarke works hard to maintain high standards on the school premises.

Highdykes Pri

mary School has a very supportive Parent Council. Parents are encouraged to take an active interest in all aspects of their children’s schooling. They run a children's book club and also assist with educational trips and functions for the children. Parents are encouraged to attend parent meetings and workshops where they can find ways to help their children progress through school.
