Our associated Primary Schools are Crookfur, Mearns, Neilston and Uplawmoor. All pupils living within the catchment areas for these schools are entitled to attend Eastwood High School.
If you live outwith the area, entry is made by placing request through East Renfrewshire Council.
Every September Eastwood holds a 'hands on' open evening for primary 6 and 7 pupils and parents.
There are very well established links and regular visits between Eastwood Staff and the associated primaries including Pupil and learning Support, subject departments including English, Mathematics, Modern Languages, Science, P.E. and ICT as well as the Depute Head Teacher responsible for Primary / Secondary Liaison.
Preparation for transfer culminates in a two day visit in June where Primary 7 pupils form the classes they will join in August. Children from other schools whose placing requests have been granted are also invited to this introductory visit. Around this time all P7 pupils also take part in an indoor athletics event at the Kelvin Hall designed to foster positive interaction, competition and cooperation with new class mates.
An induction programme is mounted by pupil support teachers early in S1 which includes a pastoral care interview in the first term.
