Careers

For comprehensive information on careers and courses throughout Scotland check out the Continuing Education Gateway database PlanIT.

Careers Scotland provides free guidance and information to every school and individually to all pupils who are leaving school. Visit their website at www.careers-scotland.org.uk for more information.

Careers Advisers

As part of the New Community School initiative Eastwood currently has the services of a full-time Careers Adviser who is in school most days. She currently provides a very full service of interviews to our pupils as well as regular talks to Social Education classes, particularly prior to pupil course choice. The Careers Adviser is usually in attendance at Parents’ Evenings for parents and pupils to request information or advice.

The Careers Adviser runs a short Individual Career Planning course for selected S3 pupils, identified by Guidance Staff whom they believe require further assistance in relating the relevance of their school to the world of work. A job shop is also run in March to help school leavers apply for vacancies.

Our Careers Advisers have been very successful in gaining Further Education places for some of our pupils most disaffected with school.

Careers Library

A comprehensive and up to date Careers Library is maintained in the school with a wide range of resources and IT access designed to cater for pupils of all abilities and talents.
