South Lanarkshire Council Welcome to Duncanrig Secondary School

Luwero Mural

The Art & Design department at Duncanrig Secondary School was delighted to work in collaboration with EK based graphic signage company Novograf to produce a window mural for our school library.

This enterprising initiative allowed S5 and S6 school pupils from Duncanrig to work in partnership with a local business to produce an industry-standard permanent design which commemorated Duncanrig’s involvement with the Lowero Community Project in Uganda.

The project is a church, school, orphanage, clinic and farm established to support the children in the area and is their only source of education, health support and, in some cases, care and welfare.

As well as providing the school with some much needed artwork, this initiative provided pupils with an opportunity to learn and develop a wide range of digital imaging skills related to the world of work.

The mural was officially unveiled at 2.30 pm on Tuesday 21st June when representatives from Duncanrig, Novograf, Luwero Community Project and Enterprise in Education at South Lanarkshire Council will attend.  Duncanrig Senior pupils, who helped at Luwero last summer, will present the project with a cheque for the funds raised over the course of this session.
