At Duncanrig Secondary School we strive to provide a safe and secure learning environment that gives all young people an equal opportunity to fulfil their potential and prepare them for life after school. Working in partnership with parents and others we encourage all pupils to become:
Successful Learners – who take responsibility for their own learning and self-development.
Confident Individuals – who have a high self esteem and value their own worth.
Responsible Citizens – who show respect and care for each other and their community.
Effective Contributors – who make a positive contribution to society and the world of work.
Duncanrig is a six-year comprehensive school and was the first secondary school created following the establishment of the "New Town of East Kilbride". It is non-denominational and provides a wide range of secondary education for both boys and girls. There are four stages in Duncanrig
The original school was opened in August l956. At that time it comprised 5 separate buildings spread across a single campus.
New School
The local authority has recently completed the construction of our new school on the existing site. Our new school, costing in excess of £22 million, has been purpose built to accomodate the original cohort from Duncanrig Secondary School and the pupils of nearby Ballerup High School which closed in May 2005.
The merger of the 2 schools has yielded a single, unified group of staff and pupils who will continue to strive for excellence in all areas of school achievement.

The Library
The Main Entrance
We took possession of our new school in August 2007 and we are all impressed by the tremendous facilities and resources available in this state-of-the-art, purpose built accommodation. No more travelling between buildings in all weathers, the school is designed as a single unit offering the latest facilities on the existing campus.
It is South Lanarkshire Council policy that school accommodation be made available as far as possible outwith school hours for use by the community. Such use by groups, clubs etc, will be in accordance with approved letting procedures and enquiries should be directed to the Community Resources, 10 Cadzow Street, Hamilton, ML3. The school parent council has as one of its functions assisting in the letting of school premises under the direction of the education authority.
