School Vision, Values and Aims
Having had our commitment to the Rights Respecting School Award formally recognised by UNICEF, we are now working towards our Level 1 award. This journey has given us an excellent opportunity to involve pupils and staff in discussions about our values, aims and vision, and we are hopeful that this exercise will be concluded by early March.
The activities undertaken as part of this initiative have involved all pupils being asked to consider what the values and vision of Duncanrig Secondary should be and to discuss these in class to develop an agreed set of values and aims for our school to feed into our overarching vision. Each House has been asked to identify those values felt to be most important; these will be aggregated into our school values statement.
All staff – teachers, janitors, support assistants, our office, canteen staff and cleaners have been asked for their thoughts and contributions.
When we have collated all the responses we will set about agreeing on final versions of each. Parents’ thoughts will be represented through the Parent Council.
We have grasped this opportunity with both hands to involve all the Duncanrig stakeholders in identifying and agreeing the type of school they want Duncanrig to be.
