Duncanrig - Ruth Miller 03/06/2010 22:38:30
Hello Its great to see many familiar names. I enjoyed my time at Duncanrig so much I stayed to 6th year. I loved Mr Young - history teacher had a blast on the trips to York and exotic Caldercruix and have some photos which could be used for blackmailing purposes. Qualified as a childrens nurse worked in Glasgow. Worked for Quarriers managing short break service for children with disabilty. Married with one wonderful cheeky daughter in sunny Dumfries. Hey happened to Gordy Lawrie, Fizz hey people outwith EK don't get nicknames. Mildo

I found this site by accident when I found out some recent disturbing news about a teenager that went to Duncanrig. Now that I'm here you have my attention 'Duncanrig' even though I for the most part hated my 4 years within your moldy walls (Old Block)! My only joy was art class and PE with an interest here and there in french with Mr.Thom (mainly because we made so much fun of him, it was always a laugh, sorry Mr.Thom!).
I moved to Airdrie in 1987, got engaged to a spamhead and after 6 years, including 2 years at Coatbridge College studying Photography. I moved on with my life bumping into some losers along the way. (they shall remain nameless, but you know who you are!)
In 1996 I was sick of looking out for everybody else and being an excellent photographer decided to got to America and seek my fortune. I now live down the block from Elvis Presley's Graceland and have a thriving Photography Business. I am 40 years old and have been married to my soulmate for 13 years. I have 3 great kids, Emma 10, Corey 8 and Lindsay 4. Life is good to me and I am thankful for the memories that were good at Duncanrig (the bad, the fear of Mr. McRae - Music teacher, may he rest in peace).
I know a few people in the posts, one in particular is Scott Morland. If you are reading this Scott I had the biggest crush on you in school after we were paired up to practice the Scottish dancing in PE! I knew you were heading out to New Zealand after a brief (platonic) encounter with you on a night out in East Kilbride in 1996. I'm glad you are doing well. If anybody else knows me out there then I welcome any updates on your lives. I'm on facebook.

OK went to Duncanrig 1980-1985 and was in Blantyre (-B2) with the most memorable girls roll Dick, Dickie, Dolan, Duff.....pugh pugh barney mcgrew:-)). To be honest drifted through school totally indifferent and uninspired and probably unnoticed by both teachers and kids! 5th year was probably my favourite year! I left in '85 and went to uni. worked in Cumbria for a wee while, then Stirling, Glasgow and now live in Sydney with husband Stuart and 2 kids. Was in Amanda Wilson's class, played netball loved PE and all things sporty! Wasn't too slack on the academic front either tho'. Remember Mr Campbell the red headed pe teacher and Mr Moffat the science teacher with the smelly breath. Miss Baikie who hated me because my sister couldn't sew a straight line and she thought it must be genetic! haha to name but a few.

I left School (or was I kicked?...) in `85 and had a variety of jobs for a few years before making a career out of my hobby. Lighting design for Theatre and telivision. I freelanced for a few years before going back to school to gain a degree in stage management from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. I have since returned there as a Teacher, teaching Technical Stage Management and Lighting Design to students. I have worked all over Britain (and further...) within the theatre world, including a few spells in London`s west end, but have settled back in Scotland. I have two Children who are growing up far to fast (I might need to grow up soon...) My memories of Duncanrig are happy ones. My Favorite teacher is still teaching at the school, even after dragging me through a poor history `O` level. Mr Dave Young. If you read this Mr Young, get in touch, i would love to hear from you. Ok think I should stop procastinating and get back to work. Occupation: Technical Stage Manager/ Technical Training Tutor

1984-1989 - Elaine McPhie 18/01/2010 10:58:29
Hi to all those excellent teachers who helped me with my education and get where I am today. You may remember me as Elaine McPhie. I was at Duncanrig from 1984 - 1989. I have a lot of fantastic memories of when I was at Duncanrig and sometimes I wish I could turn the clock back and still be there!!! I am now a registered nurse and have been for the last 10 years. I am a Sister working in General Practice (almost a doctor now/consultant nurse). I live down in Engleshire(south of the border) in Birmingham, since leaving the Royal Navy (I always wanted to do something exciting with my life to try and impress the boy back in East Kilbride, but he married someone else.) Anyway, I still come back to EK every few months to catch up with old friends Ruth Wiseman, Nicola Thomson and whoever else I happen to bump into. I do have one memory that wll last and that is the day I was kicked out of Mr Wynne`s higher Economics class. Myself and ! Scott Brown brought shame to that class as we didnt even reach O`grade standard in the mocks! So whenever Double Economics came along we were banished to Mr Wynne`s office to study(?), but were actually creating havoc in the business studies floor of the now flattened new block instead. Oh, Miss Livingstones History class was excellent. I am now planning to do a history degree as Miss Livingstone was/is an inspiration to all those who enjoy history. Cheers. Hope everyone is well and happy. Regards Elaine. XX PS. I have a 5 year old daughter too, who tells me that she lives in Scotland and not England, so there is hope that one day I will return to the place I love best, the land of the Scots!!!!!!!

1984-1990 - Bev McPherson 18/01/2010 10:58:29
I attended Duncanrig Secondary School from 1984 to 1990. Myself and my twin, Nicola, were in Blantyre House. We both have many happy times from there. I am presently living in Canada following my marriage to a handsome Canadian called Ken Wiebe who I met while working in Russia. We live in a small town called Yellowknife in the Northwest Territories. I worked in Southern Russia from 1998 to 2000 in a city called Rostov-on-Don. This also included working in Chechnya and Ingushetia in regard to the current conflict there. Needless to say I didn`t manage to learn Russian at Duncanrig (I am now fluent in Russian) but the knowledge I gained about Russia during my history classes was extremely useful in getting to know the people and understanding the country. So thank you Miss Livingstone for making history classes interesting and exciting. It would be good to hear from anyone who remembers me or was at Duncanrig during this time.

Good to see the place is still upright, which is better than I can manage at this time. Last time I passed through EK west wood I said – ‘ Where the `F` is the new block ?!?!?!’ Duncanrig was a real experience; young kids nowadays don’t know they are born. God, I have turned into ma dad…. Well, nowadays I am still doing what I did then – drawing pretty pictures, making monsters and playing with toy guns, except now I sort of make a living out of it (freelance is a bitch). Well, perhaps I drink a bit more than I did then, but only just. Thanks to Mr Drafen and Mrs Blaine in art for nurturing my un-healthy fascination for Alien monsters and plaster of Paris, I owe you both a stiff drink. Thanks to all the guys in sixth year art that put up with my bad music, and thanks to a few teachers that did not expel me after a few incidents with paintball guns and pyrotechnics. No thanks to the neds, who we exchanged the odd slap with regularly and of coarse, the couple of teachers who claimed- ‘you will never make anything of yourself drawing pictures’. HA! HA! Well, hi to anybody reading this that remembers how crap acid house was and how great it was to get served at the Westwood carryout shop without getting I.D’ed. It would be great to hear from anybody that still has the ability to string a sentence together, because I can just about manage it. BTW, never move to London……. Lee Fields. 1976-1981 - nairn purss 18/01/2010 10:58:28
Hello there. I attended Duncanrig between 1976-1981 and if I recall I was in Cathkin House. I was brought up in Wellington in Newlandsmuir and attended Canberra Primary. I remember the prospect of going up to Duncanrig was daunting. Alas, some of those anxieties were justified! In the good teachers camp there was Mrs Munoz ( French) Mr McClaren ( Biology) Ms Goddard ( Biology). In the very poor camp, well there was the intimidating Mr Gordon ( Chemistry) Mr `Flailing` Laird ( Maths) and of course the irrepressible Mr Valentine ( Maths) @ of course Miss Auld the harridan of English. The head of PE`s name escapes me ( It may have been McGee) but he would be charged with Child Abuse now if he were still there. I moved away from East Kilbride in 1981 to London, where I have lived ever since. I now work as a Barrister. If Mark Williams, Donald McClellan, Alan Sleigh or Gavin Dow ever log on here, please drop me an e-mail. It would be good to hear how things worked out for you all.

I was in Cathkin house and unfortunately was probably the bane of Miss Neilsons life,I was regularly given THE BELT after assembly and dodged school as often as possible.I am now living in South Africa and am a member of a Sun International`s Casino Management specializing in Industrial relations and believe it or not staff morale.Jim McRae was my hero and the only classes I remember attending were music and history. Boy did I have a LOT of catching up to do .Married to an EK local who is also management here and have two lovely daughters age 8 and 10, I don`t tell them how bad at doing the school thing I was and am very lucky that they actually seem to take after their father in theacademic sense. All my family have gone to Duncanrig and I have a couple of nephew`s and niece`s there at the moment who I am sure enjoy the experience more than I did.Miss Neilson once told me I was a useless no good drop out who would achieve nothing, thanks to her I am everything I am today because I wanted desperately to prove her wrong.God Bless Duncanrig and all of the hard working teachers who don`t always have success with their

Lived in the Murray (Owen Ave), went to Paisley Tech 1977 to 1981, then worked in local govt for 6 years! Went back to university 1986 for a post grad in IT, then on to do a PhD in computing, finished 1990. Have taught in various places, Stirling, Queen Margaret, Napier and now at University of Abertay, Dundee, and had a year in London working in the IT industry. Live in Edinburgh and Dunblane and work as an academic and consultant in IT (see me at http://computing.tay.ac.uk/knowledge/index.htm ). Over the years I`ve been into music (been in various bands and released a single 1984), mountaineering and rock climbing (used to climb with the famous Ian `Mitch` Mitchell) but after injury, took up golf. I remember all the school shows in the 70s and had minor parts, but I remember all the players! Have been away from EK since early 80s, and spent most of my time in Edinburgh (Morningside) where I stay with my partner. I still have fond memories though, particularly David Young (great teacher), and an old girl-friend Kathy (if you`re out there get in touch, I don`t know what`s happened to you). I still live in Scotland (everyone else seems to have moved to the US or Canada). I have a degree in Biochemistry from Edinburgh University and a PhD in Microbiology from the University of London. I now work from home in Fife for the Clean Coal Centre of the International Energy Agency. I write text-books and also books for children and have published over 20 since I left the school all those years ago! I am married with two sprogs. I would be keen to hear from anyone involved in the music department, especially in the production of the Mikado in 1982.

1977-1982 - Debbie Aitken 18/01/2010 10:58:28
I have very fond memories of Duncanrig! Was in Cathkin House and friends include Lesley Sloss and Carol Patterson who are also on here! Much of the time was spent in the Music Dept, even when we weren`t supposed to! I live in EK and am married to a former pupil, Stuart Aitken. We have 2 kids, Simon who has a rare genetic disorder/autism and many other things and Rebekah who is currently in 3rd year at Duncanrig! I am in the process of doing an Open University degree which I started years ago! Circumstances have prevented me from finishing it as quickly as I would like and I `hope` to finish it some day, all illness allowing! Teachers I remember and still see at Parent`s Night are Miss Muir, Miss Livingstone, Mr Young. Fond memories of Jessie Stirrat who loved us all despite the nonsense! Mr MCrae too although I`m not sure how much he liked us!!! But we did have fun and I always say that the school days are the happiest of my life, didn`t seem like that at the time but I can ! assure you knwing what I know now, they definately were!

I was in Cathkin house and very much involved in the music department where I gained my love for Gilbert and Sullivan.I studied at Glasgow College of Food Technology and am now a catering manager with South Lanarkshire Council. I still live in East Kilbride (it isn`t such a bad place!) with my partner and our daughter (who is due to start Duncanrig in August. I still sing Gilbert and Sullivan(with the E/K G&S Society) and will be doing the Mikado in April 2002 so if anyone from the school production fancies a laugh(sorry an evening of culture) why not come along(at least when I did it at school I was a school girl).

1977-1982 - Jeffrey Todd 18/01/2010 10:58:28
I attended Duncanrig from 1977-82. I would be grateful if you could include me on the FP pages I was in Cathkin House for the 1st year, then moved to Eaglesham for the rest of my stay. Through various jobs and higher education adventures, I now live in Glasgow and work as an IT analyst. I`ve just moved back after spending 3 years as an IT manager in the West Highlands. My memories include: Teachers that we loved such as Mrs Hill who kept us in school uniform; Miss Neilson, doyen of the English department and no a bad folk singer too; Mrs Mukerjee, a legend in her own lifetime who went on to bless several other schools including St Brides and finally the inimitable Mr Gordon, scourge of the first years and just about the only person that could get me through my chemistry higher. I remember Julie (angel in leg warmers) McAdam and Lesley Rodgers. I do remember the Mikado in 82, though I was not in it. I went to Kirktonholme Primary with John and Robert Henderson, though was not in their year at Duncanrig, Nice site, by the way.

I have just found this web site due to my nosey daughter. It was great to see the doors haven`t changed a bit. For any old teachers reading this I now realise the power of education and you`ll be glad to know your efforts where well worth it. I now have three lovely daughters presented to me by my wife of 15 years: Tammy. They see me as the ogre when I insist on homework being done in good time. Any old pals or even teachers feel free to get in touch via email (even Miss Orr, my geography teacher of the time, what a babe!) Occupation: Business Development Manager

1977-1982 - Jennifer Stewart 18/01/2010 10:58:28
1977 - 1982 I appear to have had a pretty boring life compared to some listed! I still unfortunately live in cold, wet East Kilbride and for those of you who have moved away – you aren’t missing much! I am married with 3 wonderful, talented children { born 1986/93/95}. I have worked as an artist since leaving school and have been lucky enough to have won a couple of national art prizes as well as an international photography competition. In recent years I returned to further education as a MATURE! Student this time to study networking infrastructure and webdesign at Langside College. I now run my own company called webdesign-international.com. After leaving South Park I had a rocky start ( I was a bit big for my boots in 1st year *cringe* ) but a very happy time in Blantyre House at Duncanrig. I remember the very strange Mrs. Mukergee one of my English teachers {I can’t remember how to spell that name!} she used to take the inside door handle off to keep us in, I don’t remember why she would do such a thing? I also remember my other English teacher the crazy Mr. McGhee, he was a deadfull teacher but a lot of fun when you are 15 and not that interested in learning. So if you think my spelling is poor then you know who to blame, well that`s my excuse anyway! My favorite teacher was Mr. McLean - my fabulously encouraging art teacher, does anyone know what ever happened to him? I`d really like to contact him to thank him. I also liked Mr.Dick, Mrs. Grey, Mr. Simpson (tech} and my terrific `patient` cookery teacher Miss.MacCaskill they were all brilliant! Not forgetting Bobby the janny he was a nice wee guy. I also remember Mr. Valentine he used to stand with an angry face at the teachers gate waiting for late comers - he was very scary when you are 12 years old. Another point about him was that he had a huge selection of black and white class photo`s on his classroom wall, he took one of my class when I was in 1B1 by the fire escape outside the first section of the old block. I would love to see some of those and other `old` class/pupil photo`s on this site. It would be great to hear from to hear from Franky Mitchell, Alison Spiers, Neville Dick, or any of my old [maybe I shouldn’t use that term] school friends or teachers.

1977-1983 - John Henderson 18/01/2010 10:58:28
I attended Duncanrig along with my twin brother Robert, making us contemporaries of Jennifer Kelsey and Craig Richardson (spelling Mukerjee perhaps?). We were in Fenwick house until it bit the dust, and then Cathkin. Despite Mr. Gordon`s best efforts I studied Chemistry at Strathclyde and then did a PhD in Polymer Chemistry at Durham University. I now work at Chemdal Limited on the Wirral where I am R&D Manager. I married Heather in 1992. Heather is also a chemist, and we are currently working on our first human reproductive experiment (results expected early April!) Robert studied Law at Dundee (or possibly just studied Dundee Law, I`m not sure), and is now living and working in Nottingham. Other Henderson FP`s are Mary (c.a. early 1970`s) - Minister of Overtown Parich Church near Wishaw David - (a couple of years later) Lives in Dunfermline with wife Lesley, and three children Alan, Neil and Ruth.

1977-1983 - David Fergusson (Hippy) 18/01/2010 10:58:28
On leaving Duncanrig I went to Aberdeen and got a BSc in Biochemisrtry. After that I discovered a masochistic liking for research and went to Reading for a PhD in Biochemistry (helping owls avoid being poisoned by rat poisons). I returned to Scotland and continued in research at the Moredun Institute in Edinburgh, the Beatson Cancer Research Institute and the Wellcome Unit for Molecular Parasitology in Glasgow, publishing the odd paper and going to the occasional conference on the way. For the last few years I have been living in Edinburgh and, getting tired of commuting, I resorted to education at Heriot-Watt last year to get a MSc in IT. I am now working in Edinburgh for Aneda Biocomputing developing bioinformatics software and consulting in biological computing.I married my wife Morag in 1990 after we crossed swords at the Aberdeen University Fencing club, we have a little boy Liam (1997) and we are currently expecting another addition in November. I still see Derek McKinnel occasionally who will vouch for the fact that I now have considerably less hair than I did at school.

1977-1983 - Craig Richardson 18/01/2010 10:58:28
Arrived at Duncanrig from South Park Primary. Had an enjoyable time in my four years through 1E1 to 4E1. Excelled at maths, technical and winding up the teachers ( esp. Mr. Thome, Mrs. S. Clarke and most of all Mrs. Muckargie (sp) ). By fourth year though it was rugby and school dinners that kept me there. Left after fourth year and completed an apprenticship at Rolls-Royce. I was a member of the original computer club at the school, run by Mr. Cameron, using BBC Acorn computers and a Commodore Vic 20. After nine years I went travelling, no where in particular and a year later I finished up in New Zealand. Worked as a Research Engineer for the Defence Establishment on the new ANZAC Frigates for a year. I have worked for Air New Zealand for the last four years, currently as the Technical Support Engineer at the Engine Overhaul base at Christchurch International Airport. I live about 20 miles inland from Christchurch in a village called Kirwee, similar in size to Auldhouse.

1977-1983 - Alan McCrorie 18/01/2010 10:58:28
Now living in exotic Partick and working as a freelance journalist for anyone who`ll pay. Avondale sparring partner of Derek McKinnell, David Fergusson, Ian Herbertson, Debbie McEwan (now Aitken) and sundry others. Loved classical music and was run into the ground for it by James Mann (former Sun page three star apparently), so first year was a nightmare. Left Duncanrig for a year at Motherwell College and then onto Glasgow University for a spectacular career in the history department. Came out with an MA Hons. Mainly working at The Herald and The Express. Working on family genealogy, which should take me off to Chicago within the next six months. Fond memories of winding Davie Fergusson and Derek McKinnell up at volleyball under Miss McGuinness`s watchful eye. Many happy memories of Mr Dalglish`s sixth year studies modern studies class - Wendy and I - not forgetting Mr Young`s ballet dancing confession. Many thanks to Miss Neilson for introducing me to Woody Guthrie and the Rosenbergs, Mr Kelly for looking like Riki Fulton, Mr Gordon for ruling with a rod of iron, Mr Freeland for taking us all hillwalking and a French teacher - whose name escapes me but she was nicknamed `Bubbles` at Holy Cross apparently - for my love of the language. Other McCrories: Myra (1966 - 1970/71) and Hilda (1968 - 1972/73) - both of Cathkin house. More recent McCrorie toe-rags: Stewart McArthur, Lindsay McArthur, Greg Miller, Neil Miller, and watch out for Katie. regards, Alan McCrorie Julie McAdam I enjoyed most of my time at Duncanrig. I started off as a trouble maker in Eaglesham House and under the beady eye of Mrs. Hill soon shaped up to be School Captain in 82-83, albeit a duff one. In 87 I took off for Egypt, left in 88, returned in 90, left in 91 and returned in 92. I am now married to an Egyptian and live in the United Arab Emirates. I have two kids, Sherif, 23 months and Alistair, 8 months, both born in sunny Scotland. I am working at a Women`s College teaching English Communications to Nursing students. I started Duncanrig Secondary school in 1978 prior to this I went to Canberra Primary. My class was 1E1 and MR Dalgleish was our first registration teacher. We then went on to have MRS Chalmers as our registration teacher who kept the boys in our class in line because she was rather good with her belt. What happened to us all? Where are you all now? I left school and went to work in the civil service where I have been ever since (how sad`s that!). I am married with 2 kids 11 and 7. This is the scarey bit my oldest will start Duncanrig this year what a thought!!! I hope she enjoys Duncanrig as much as I did. I stumbled upon this site on an emailed prompt from a long lost friend and former pupil, Brian Wyld. With only just a brief browse through the site, I now `scarily` recall a whole lot more now about back then than I dare to mention. Nevertheless, it`s good to hear about you all after all these years, and perhaps `intriguing` as to how you (we) turned out. I started at Duncanrig in the 1B2 class in 1979. I won`t mention the names of my fellow pupils... you know who you are! But I will put in a special mention in for our registration teacher, Mrs Towland, who `kick started` our time at Secondary. It appears that I might have been one of the last to leave EK, albeit that I`m now living in (the not so exotic as some) Kilmarnock, Ayrshire. I left Duncanrig to start with British Rail as an Apprentice Electrician in `83, a post in those days which was scarcely available. I spent just under two years as a time served `spark` and left to become a (Road) Lighting Technician with Strathclyde Region in 1989. Having did a NC and HNC during my apprenticeship, I thought I should progress with part time education further and in 1997 I graduated with BSc(Hons) and later with an MSc in 2003. (Yes, I know if I`d stuck in at school/uni I`d have done it much quicker) Further down the line, I`m now a Senior (Lighting) Engineer with East Ayrshire `Cooncil`. Still not married and still nae kids... living life and dare I say, enjoying it! As for marriage... maybe someday... as for when? who knows?! Occupation: Engineer

After leaving Duncanrig, I went into nursing at Glasgow Royal and spent many a happy year doing nursing things like wiping things that the rest of you wouldn`t!! Finally left nursing in 1996 after becoming a Unit Sister at Glasgow Western Infirmary in this time had also returned to Uni and completed another nursing degree. Left and joined the commercial world of Medical Sales where I now work as a Regional Manager for a company that specialises in Renal Medicine. Moved around a little but now settled just outside Hamilton with Rodger and three children - so life is very busy and full. Memories of Duncanrig - the Music rooms despite the fact that I was and am completely tone deaf, School shows and never being that good at anything, I was always the good sport who can in last in everything!

1979-1985 - David Kinnaird 18/01/2010 10:58:28
Nice to see some familiar Practice Room names on the Duncanrig site. I return to East Kilbride for only the most fleeting of Festive visits, and find that I recognise less and less of my home town with each passing year. It recently occurred to me (for the first time, if I’m honest) that practically living out of those dusty little rehearsal rooms for six years was in any way odd – and that, given the affection which I hold for those days, it’s equally odd that I’ve kept in touch with so few of my musical cellmates. Odd, isn’t it, that things on which we once had such a personal emotional purchase can be so easily set aside? When I went to university I shut the door on whole chunks of my past. I’m not sure why I looked up the Duncanrig homepage. Doing so, though, all sorts of memories flooded back. The Practice Room novel. `Sid Vicious, the Music Department Rat`. Queer Peers. Betty Milne. Auntie Jessie. The Nicolson twins furiously debating the relative merits of some band or other they’d heard on John Peel’s show the previous night. The many decibels of Jimmy MacRae. Mr Gillespie falling asleep during Cello lessons. The thinly veiled rivalries of Messrs Wilde and Adams. Post-‘Mikado’ singalongs in the showers. Ha! I have a photo from ‘Iolanthe’ above my desk which speaks volumes to me about those days. Mr Valentine and I are in the forefront, hamming it up something terrible as the Lord Chancellor and Mountararat, but the expression of bemused disdain on the face of little Laura Sibbald – having been poked in the back for what must have been the hundredth time that night by some lesser fairy’s Magic Wand – never fails to make me smile. I escaped to Stirling as an undergraduate in 1986, graduating (for the first time) in 1991. I qualified as a teacher that same year, and immediately started work on my PhD. Fearful that I was going to turn into my tutors and spend the rest of my life arbitrarily listing sections of the alphabet after my name, I chose not to pursue an academic career on completion of my studies, and started supporting myself as an actor and scriptwriter within the entertainment end of the Heritage/Tourism industry – researching, scripting and producing dramatised guided-tours, ‘GhostWalks’, site-specific drama programmes and the like at locations all over Scotland. In 1994 I became Artistic Director of a busy events company specialising in such programmes. This was occasionally profitable, but highly stressful work which left no room for what I believe is known in civilised society as having ‘a life’. Since ’98 I’ve been freelance, mostly working in the same areas, but with occasional forays into film (‘Sredni Vashtar’, ‘Dead Meat’), TV (I`m told I can still be seen every few months on the History Channel ranting away as John Knox, and was an incongruously bearded Winston Churchill in a Bollywood flick filmed around Loch Lomond) and print (recent work including a chapter on Edinburgh for the AA gazetteer ‘Bloody Britain’, and a piece to ‘Lines In the Sand’, an anti-war childrens’ anthology raising funds for UNICEF which I was invited to contribute to by the poet Michael Rosen). I also have the peculiar distinction of once having employed the ginger postman from ‘Take the High Road’ and a Hobbit – giving Gordon Brown and Billy Boyd their first professional work after their 1994 graduation from RSAMD. Once upon a time I was a slightly ludicrous, wildly pretentious lovelorn adolescent. I’m wider, balder, wiser and bolder than once I was, but just as ludicrously lovelorn. Some things never change. WOW!! Where has the time gone? Went back recently to the School for a trip down memory lane. Great!! You should give it a go. Remember so many people from students to teachers. Sadly, the schools to be demolished next year. Should there be a "reunion"? What do you think? Contact me. Occupation: Technical Engineer/Coordinator

Must be getting old if I`m registering on this sort of site.... Next thing I`ll be attending reunions.... Anyway, briefly: after 4 years at Heriot-Watt in Edinburgh, got married to Alison just after graduating (nicest comment - "these university marriages, they never last"), worked in Edinburgh for 4 years for Spider Systems, and then left the country (voluntarily...) for France. Lived around Grenoble (in the Alps) for the last 12 years, now have 3 children (9, 7 and 3) who all think they are french. Worked for HP for 8 years, then left in 2001 to start my own company (Eloquant SA) doing those annoying telephone computer response systems everyone hates. From time to time I`m back in Scotland (visiting family) - its kind of strange each time.... Weirdest is of course that I hated O-level French, and promptly forgot every word of it after 4th year.... and now I speak it like a native (of Belgium, I`m told). Still involved with religious weirdos, and currently building a church for the local Baptist church which is kind of fun. Occupation: Engineer

God this is hard.I was always shy and stressed at school, now just mad.I was known as ted, the guy who had the atari computer game..I was in cathkin eg 1C2.I hung around with neil thompson, the guy who ripped his arm open one day in pe on a fire exit door, he gots lots of compensation. Also, barry ferns, and the fat ginger haired guy someone hill.what happened to george vickers and chas cochrane.I fancied jennifer mcpherson, anne thompson and ????? hill, she lived near me in westwood , she had lots of sisters and brothers. It seems only Mr mcpherson is still there from PE.Remeber Mr B wright, Maths he was a good teacher, but the B stood for something else. And the death of the fat English teacher who was rapped and killed in Motherwell about 6 years ago, tragic.Mr robertson from biology if you are alive you madman I owe you everything.get in touch. There was some characters, Miss Auld , English, old , but big you nknow what`s, what a laugh. The RE teacher, the poncy English Mr Sims. I also had a fancy for History teacher Miss Aitchison, I think, she can`y be that old now. Also Mrs Hughes, French.Remember that idiot Alan wales. Hey Stuart Martin, nice to hear from, you, you were tall, had big incisor teeth and my dad runus to the school quiz one night, Sadly he died recently. What about that ners, in the quiz what`s his name his family were teachers, and I heard he failed UNI, ha ha.Everyone used to have a shoot of my Peugeot Clubman pushbike at the swingpark in quebec drive at night, you rats. What happened to george vickers and chas cochrane, heard george did some time in jail. Also the new block was bulldozed, designer faults. And Mr laird with the big eyeballs.Mr Gordon was good, chemistry, he had a handicapped son. What about tthe french teacher, can`t remember his name about 1982 with the leather trousers, we made him drink. Also, miss bissette the music teacher with the beard.Anyway, I am married , with a hardworking, lovely wife and 2 great kids.I also drive buses, shite in Falkirk.I have been to college twice and have a HND in Communication and sadly also in debt, but loved.I also am a bodybuilder and love the sport24/7, it is amazing. It seems the only ones to keep in touch are those that can work a computer, shame.I suppose Gregory`s Girl was spot on and also Rita and Sue and Bob to. I am not her to blow my trumpet, cos there isn`t much to blow except I`m alive, a deep thinker, who remmebers everything. So please get in touch teacher or pupil as I love you all, not in that way though. Please get in touch, I want to hear from you good or badddddddddddddddd, honest.Best regars , Stuart. formely known as a lot of things. I was of the eaglesham house throughout my tenure there. Hated by all teachers except maybe Ms Blaine, I went on to show that I can actually hold a job down. At present I am a Project manager for a large prepress house in Oregon USA. Believe it or not those art classes actually paid off. Only wish ? that we had some computer experience. Kudos to Ms Blaine & Ms Mcgowan who we put thru hell.
